Eyes on Carson City: Thursday brings stew of wind, rain, corn snow and sunshine
Spring showers, gusty winds, touches of wet flakes and corn snow made for a hearty stew of weather conditions around Carson City during the Thursday morning commute.
The quick moving storm system blew in overnight, bringing down temperatures to just below freezing, along with a few bands of rain, snow and pellet showers.
With the sun showing some success in its attempt to make a brief appearance, at least around midtown, and the birds yammering about, we wonder, is it over? That's a trick question. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. The National Weather Service says gusts of up to 65 mph in wind prone areas are possible including I-580 between Reno and Carson City, and foothill locations from mid morning to mid afternoon.
But this is Western Nevada after all and that sometimes means the forecasts are a crap shoot. Conditions can change at any time.
Dry and cool conditions are in the making for Friday, followed by a return to warmer temperatures for much of this weekend. Another quick moving low pressure may bring a round of showers and gusty winds by Sunday night with cooler temperatures for Monday, according to the weather service.
