Association brings 24 museums to Carson City's Nevada State Museum
The Nevada State Museum in Carson City was the place to be Tuesday for history and science lovers as the Nevada Museums Association hosted its 2019 showcase, which consisted of free admission for the day and featuring 24 museum booth demonstrations from around the Silver State.
Garrett Barmore, President of the NMA, was in attendance representing UNR’s Keck museum.
“The Nevada museums are here to serve their communities, and we are here for Nevadans,” said Barmore. “Many museums like to hear from people. If you’re interested in museums or history or science, reach out, we’re always looking for interns or volunteers at our various museums.”
Barmore said the showcase has been going for four or five years now as a way to raise awareness for Nevada’s many museums. There are over 50 Nevada museums in the NMA, he said, though the number often surprises people.
“The Showcase is to let people now that Nevada is a museum state,” he said.
