Carson City arrests: Two jailed in alleged felony domestic battery with strangulation incidents

A 32-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation and misdemeanor violation of bail conditions, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

Christopher Pella was taken into custody at 12:19 a.m. in the 2700 block of South Carson Street. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the hospital regarding a domestic battery report.

The victim told deputies she and her boyfriend were in an argument and that the man held her captive in a motel room, pushed her onto a bed, threatened to kill her and choked her multiple times. The woman said she had difficulty breathing during the incident but didn't lose consciousness.

Deputies investigating the incident could see redness and bruising on the woman's upper chest and neck. The redness and bruising were consistent with hand and finger marks on the neck. The woman stated they came from Pella choking her, the arrest report states.

The victim told officers she was able to get out of the motel room and went for help, advising she wanted to go to the hospital.

Deputies later made contact with Pella who was standing outside the motel room, and told officers he had video proof. Deputies reviewed the video the man gave to them, which didn't show anything, the arrest report states.

The man was advised of his Miranda rights and continued to speak. He admitted pushing the woman onto the bed and that he got on top of her. Officers asked how hand prints were on the woman's neck. The man said he would never hurt the woman and that when he gets mad he can black out, the report states.

The officer advised how he believed the woman was injured. Pella stated he wouldn't do anything intentionally and wound never "choke her out," and that he was trying to tell the woman he loved her, the arrest report states.

Deputies observed a small scratch on the man's nose that he said was caused by the female and a bump on the back of his head. The man said the woman hit him with a plastic bag that contained tea bags, the report states.
