Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for allegedly cutting boyfriend with knife in argument

A woman was arrested Wednesday night for suspicion of felony domestic battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly using a knife during an argument with her boyfriend, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Sharene Cecelia Maloney was taken into custody at 10:25 p.m. at a Walsh Street residence. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the residence regarding the incident and detained the suspect.

Officers made contact with the victim who said the two had been arguing and that she cut him with a knife. Deputies observed a small cut on the left side of the victim’s abdomen, the report states.

The suspect was interviewed and she stated she had been drinking and admitted to being argumentative with her boyfriend. She stated she was using a knife to eat her dinner when she said the man grabbed the knife out of her hand, the report states. She said he then sliced his abdomen and threw the knife in the window sill. The alleged weapon was found stuck between the blinds in the window, according to the arrest report.

Officers determined the woman was the primary aggressor and she was arrested for suspicion of felony domestic battery with a deadly weapon. Bail: $30,000.

In other arrests:
— A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the area of Roop Street and Hot Springs Road for felony suspicion of being in possession of credit cards without the owners consent and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant.

Jacob Cooper was booked into custody at 8:18 p.m. A 20-year-old woman with him was also arrested for misdemeanor suspicion of resisting arrest.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop because the driver of the vehicle had made an illegal turn from the number two lane, turning on a red light onto North Roop Street, failing to obey a traffic control device. The driver had a confirmed Carson City Justice Court warrant for failure to appear and was placed into cuffs.

Two women were sitting in the back seat and were interviewed. Both appeared to be on drugs as they were talking at an accelerated speed and would not listen to officers, the report states. The 20-year-old woman began to argue with the officer and said she did not believe he was a police officer. The woman told the officer she did not need to tell him her name. The woman was instructed to exit the vehicle. She refused and was assisted out of the vehicle. She resisted, kicking at officers. She was arrested for resisting.

During a search of Cooper, officers located a sleeve full of credit cards and a driver’s license. Cooper was arrested for possession of credit cards without the owner’s consent due to him being in possession of multiple credit cards of different people. He was in possession of 5 different cards, which were booked into evidence. Bail for Cooper: $6,150. Bail for the woman arrested for resisting officers: $412.

— A 24-year-old San Antonio, Texas woman, Precious Allen McGilvray, was booked into Carson City Jail on Tuesday for a felony warrant alleging grand larceny of a firearm, which was issued Dec. 18, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $20,000.

— A 25-year-old Carson City woman, Hailey Ellis March, was arrested by the sheriff’s office Special Enforcement Team for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a SET deputy assisted in a traffic stop near the intersection of West 10th and South Nevada streets. The front passenger seat was occupied by March. A second female was sitting in the driver’s seat and the rear passenger area was occupied by two juveniles, a 12 year-old and an infant.

A deputy asked March to exit the vehicle. She consented to a pat down search. No items of contraband were found on her person. A K9 sniff of the vehicle was performed and the dog alerted positive to drugs, the arrest report states.

The vehicle was searched, where a methamphetamine pipe was located in between the driver’s seat and the center console. The driver was detained due to the meth pipe being in her immediate span of control. She was given the Miranda warning, which she waived and was questioned about the pipe. She denied possession or knowing it was in the vehicle.

March was asked about the meth pipe and she denied possession. She did tell the officer she was attempting to purchase meth that day. She was interviewed further and admitted the meth pipe, with methamphetamine inside it, belonged to her. She was arrested. The driver of the vehicle was released. Bail: $3,637.

— A 32-year-old Sun Valley man, Dale Warren McNail, was arrested for a felony drug court warrant issued in September 2018 out of Carson City. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

— A 19-year-old Sun Valley woman was arrested Wednesday, 5:15 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Jan. 28, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. The woman turned herself into the sheriff’s office because of the warrant. Bail: $500.

— A 62-year-old Reno man was arrested Thursday for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued Feb. 13, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
