Carson City arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of DUI, having guns while intoxicated

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 9:25 p.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, and three counts being in possession of a firearm while under the influence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy traveling northbound on Russell Way observed a red pickup with a broken tail light. The officer initiated a traffic stop at Eastridge and Spooner Drive and made contact with the driver, who immediately notified the officer he had guns in the vehicle within reach of him.

The deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol on the man’s breath. The man was ordered out of the vehicle and instructed to sit on the curb, which he did. The man informed the officer he had two Wild Turkey drinks with Dr. Pepper and two 805 beers, the arrest report states.

The officer went back to the vehicle and retrieved three guns, a Smith and Wesson pistol, a Smith and Wesson revolver, which were both on the passenger seat and a shotgun in the rear seat.

The man conducted standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He had a preliminary breath test of .125 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI and three counts being in possession of a firearm while under the influence. Bail: $3,348.

A 23-year-old man was arrested Friday in the area of Robinson and Nevada streets for misdemeanor suspicion of eluding, driving on a suspended driver’s license and a department of alternative sentencing violation.

According to the arrest report, a CCSO sergeant was driving northbound on Carson Street and Robinson and observed a vehicle wait for nearly a minute to cross the intersection on a green light, obstructing the flow of traffic, in which 4 to 5 vehicles were behind the motorist and one of the vehicles honking.

The car did not obey the traffic control device and the officer attempted to make a traffic stop for obstructing the flow of traffic. As the vehicle turned west onto Telegraph, the officer activated his emergency lights. The vehicle made a series of turns attempting to elude the sergeant, who then activated his siren.

The driver continued north on Nevada then west onto Robinson, where it then pulled into a medium-sized snow bank and came to a stop.

The sergeant alerted dispatch of a modified high risk stop on two occupants and made contact with the passenger and driver.

The officer explained the situation to the driver and read him his Miranda rights in which he waived and agreed to speak. He admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day and also showed signs of ingestion. The deputy checked through dispatch, which returned that he had a suspended license and was also on Alternative Sentencing.

He submitted to a field sobriety test that he was able to complete satisfactorily, the arrest report states. He was arrested for eluding, driving without a valid license and a alternative sentencing violation. Bail: $2,274.

According to the arrest report, a CCSO deputy made a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling in front of the officer. The vehicle did not have license plates.

The deputy made a traffic stop and informed him of the reason for the stop. The man told the officer he had been cited earlier in the year for driving without a valid license. — A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday morning at a Kit Sierra Loop residence for suspicion of domestic battery, a sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a residence for a report of a domestic dispute. Deputies arrived on scene and met with the male suspect and female.

During the course of the investigation it was learned the two, who had two children in the residence, were arguing, when the man allegedly grabbed a bottle of water from the kitchen and threw it at the woman, hitting her on the side. He then threw groceries that were on the counter. She said he then pushed her away as he was holding the child, causing the woman to hit the closet door in the living room. As she hit the door, it caused a hole in the door. The woman demonstrated to the officer how the hole was created.

A deputy looked in the kitchen area and noticed cereal scattered on the kitchen floor. The woman, who was pregnant, declined medical attention and then refused to fill out a statement and refused to allow deputies to interview a juvenile.

Due to the woman saying the man pushed her into the door with enough force for her to cause the door to break and the food on the kitchen floor, the man was determined to be the primary physical aggressor and he was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery first offense. Bail: $3,137.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the female driver, who provided the deputy with a license. The deputy confirmed the warrant and was arrested.

Upon a search of the woman’s person the deputy found three white loose pills in her right jacket pocket. The woman told the officer they were Tramadol pills. She was asked if she had a prescription bottle with her to confirm she had a prescription for them. She told the officer she did not. The pills returned as Tramadol Hydrochloride, 50 mg, a schedule 4 controlled substance. Bail: $2,750.
