Carson City deputies find 'hundreds' of syringes, arrest man for meth and warrants

A 22-year-old man was arrested Friday for felony drug and warrant charges after deputies were called to the area for a report of suspicious circumstances.

Edward Lee Moser Jr., listed as being from Reno, was arrested at 10:48 a.m. in the 200 block of Jeanell Drive for a parole and probation priority 5 warrant, suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor parole and probation warrant and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia in which deputies located "hundreds" of hypodermic needles.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area for a suspicious circumstances call that was dispatched. Deputies were provided a license plate number and were informed one of the persons at the location was Moser, who had a priority 5 parole and probation warrant for his arrest.

Deputies arrived at the location, and made contact with three subjects including Moser. While conducting a safety pat down of Moser's person, a deputy located a large knife on his right hip. Also located was a hypodermic device in his right front pocket. Moser was detained. He confirmed with the officer that he had two hypodermic devices in his pockets.

With the confirmed parole and probation warrants, deputies conducted a search of his person and located a metal spoon and one hypodermic device in his right front pocket and another device in his left front pocket. Moser was read his Miranda warning and he said he understood his rights. He was asked if there was anything else in the vehicle that belonged to him.

He described a large backpack and gave the officer consent to retrieve the bag. A deputy asked if there was anything in the bag. The man told the officer it contained "a rig" which is a slang word often used to describe a bag or container containing paraphernalia used to smoke or ingest illegal narcotics.

During the search of the backpack, deputies located hundreds of hypodermic needle devices, cotton balls, a metal spoon and a small tin containing methamphetamine, the booking report states. He was arrested. The two others with him were released.

During a search at jail, deputies located a small plastic bag containing trace amounts of methamphetamine. He was being held without bail for the parole and probation priority 5 felony warrant and a parole and probation warrant issued out of Washoe County District Court.

In other arrests:
— A Carson City woman was arrested Saturday in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff's report states.

According to the booking report, deputies were called to a residence regarding information from a family member. Deputies spoke with the female suspect who admitted she had slapped her daughter during an argument earlier that day. She provided deputies a written statement.

The daughter told deputies she was punched. The investigating deputy observed the woman's left cheek was red and slightly swollen. She declined medical treatment. Deputies investigated the circumstances, interviewed both parties and arrested the mother for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— An 18-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.
Brianna Kristen Snooks was taken into custody at 11:10 a.m. During an investigation, deputies located a loaded hypodermic needle in a pink purse that tested positive for methamphetamine, the arrest report states. The woman told deputies the purse belonged to her. Bail: $2,500.

Also arrested was a 27-year-old Carson City man for suspicion of gross misdemeanor suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and violation of a pre-trial conditions.

According to the arrest report, the man, who was on Alternative Sentencing with clauses to "obey all laws" and "no drugs/paraphernalia" was found to have a backpack containing prescription pills only available with a prescription, which he did not have, the arrest report states. Alternative Sentencing advised and requested he be charged with violation of pre-trial conditions. Bail: $5,500.
