Carson City Sheriff's Office arrests 17 over holiday weekend

A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 200 block of West Winnie Lane Saturday evening for suspicion of DUI second offense, a gross misdemeanor, felony violation of pretrial release, failure to stop at a stop sign, and failure to practice due care, a sheriff's deputy said.

Nathalia Pecorilla was arrested after she allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign on Mountain Street, continuing to travel north bound on Mountain, and failing to stop a second time at the stop sign on Mountain and Bath Street.

Deputies observed the vehicle for a third time run the stop sign at Mountain and Winnie Lane, at which point the driver made a high speed right hand turn onto Winnie and lost control of the vehicle, sending it into a fishtail swerve. The vehicle continued to swerve back and forth until it turned into a bar parking lot.

Deputies watched the vehicle park in the parking lot for a short time before attempting to back out. While backing up, the vehicle nearly struck the marked patrol vehicle, and deputies had to activate their emergency vehicles to stop the vehicle before it hit them.

Deputies spoke with the driver later identified as Pecorilla, who dispatch advised had an active warrant out of Washoe County for violating pretrial conditions issued in 2015 for felony attempt to use the personal information of another person for an unlawful person.

Pecorilla was combative and argumentative while deputies attempted to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. She had extremely watery and red eyes, a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person, and her words were slurred, the arrest report states.

Pecorilla refused to cooperate in the field test, and refused to give a preliminary breath sample. She was taken to the Carson City Jail and turned over without incident. Bail: $5,304; $2,500 cash only.

Deputies responded to the residence on the report of a domestic dispute. When deputies arrived, there were several adults in the residence and three children, one of whom was an unattended infant.

Deputies spoke with the woman who said she wanted to go get diapers and her boyfriend became frustrated and began to argue with her. She said he stood in front of the door and she swung at him in an attempt to punch him. She said she missed him, and he shoved her outside the door in an attempt to kick her out of the residence, the report states.

Deputies noted that the woman showed a fresh scratch on her chest and marks on her arms consistent with being pushed out of the residence.

Deputies spoke with the boyfriend who confirmed her story. He admitted she had made contact with his left arm when she swung at him.

Deputies asked if the children were in the room while they were fighting and the boyfriend said yes, they saw the whole thing.

Deputies determined the woman to be the primary aggressor and she was placed into custody. Deputies also contacted CPS to conduct an investigation, as the children had seen their parents physically fighting, and the house was in complete disarray, according to the report. Bail: $3,137.

The victim told deputies a vehicle had run into the back of her vehicle while she was picking up a passenger. The victim attempted to get the driver to provide information and the driver left the scene.

Deputies located the vehicle in motion and stopped it at Carmine Street and Poole Way. The woman’s vehicle was damaged on the front consistent with the victim’s report, the arrest report states.

The man was arrested after deputies recognized the driver of the vehicle, who had told deputies three weeks prior that his driver’s license was suspended.

Deputies made contact with the man and two passengers in the car, one of who was the registered owner of the car. Deputies asked the owner if they could search the vehicle, which he consented to.

Inside the vehicle deputies located a box of hypodermic needles, and the owner admitted to “having them for a friend” who uses drugs, and he was returning the needles for him. Deputies also found a small plastic baggie with small cotton balls, consistent with heroin use, the report said.

All occupants in the car denied using heroin.

In the rear passenger seat, deputies located a backpack, which the driver claimed. They also found a biohazard box where cotton balls with used heroin residue was discovered.

Dispatch advised the driver had two prior failure to appears on his record, and deputies decided to place the man in custody for driving with a suspended license and improper display of plates.

The man asked that the deputies drop his backpack off at his mother’s house down the street, and the deputies informed him they do not do that.

While at the jail, deputies searched the backpack and found one scale, one spoon, one water bottle cap with a cotton ball soaked with suspected heroin, one spoon with several cotton balls soaked with suspected heroin, two hypodermic needles loaded with suspected heroin, an empty hypodermic needle in a chip bag, empty hypodermic needles in a sharps container, and one broken off hypodermic needle. She said the woman charged at her, and she put her hands up to defend herself. The woman then followed the victim into the bedroom, pinned her next to the bed and started punching her in the face, the arrest report states. Deputies noted that the victim had redness and swelling on the right side of her face by her right eye, and that she did not have any defensive wounds on her hands and knuckles.

The victim said after she was battered by her girlfriend she went to the neighbor’s apartment to call for help.

Deputies spoke to the woman, who said that she and the victim had been arguing when the victim hit her glasses off her face. At that point, the woman got mad and started punching the “living s***” out of the victim because she cannot see without her glasses, the arrest report states.

Deputies noted the woman had been consuming alcohol. They also noted the suspect had redness and swelling on her knuckles on her right hand index and middle finger.

She told deputies she was on her way home in Indian Hills when she lost control of the vehicle.

She told deputies the three passengers in the car were complaining it was cold, and she was trying to turn on the heater, but since she didn’t own the vehicle she wasn’t sure how it worked. She said this caused her to lose control of the vehicle and crash into the bus stop.

She gave a preliminary breath test which resulted in a .158 BAC. She was arrested and transferred to the Carson City Jail without incident. Bail: $3,137.

— A 67-year-old transient man was arrested in the 3800 block of S. Carson Street for trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Deputies responded to the address on a report of an unwanted subject who was being argumentative and refused to leave. The man appeared highly intoxicated, according to the report, and deputies were familiar with the man from previous interactions.

The man travels in a wheelchair, but can walk when he chooses to. Deputies assisted the man out of the building by pushing him out in in his wheel chair. As they approached the front door, the man pushed his feet against the ground and pushed himself out of the wheelchair, falling to the floor.

The man then began to yell profanities at the deputies and wanted to fight. Deputies asked the man to get back in his chair and leave. He continued to yell and make threats to fight.

Deputies took the man into custody and transferred him to the Carson City Jail. Bail: $300.

— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the area of Highway 50 and Airport Road for DUI first, driving while using a cellphone, and right side required.

Deputies were traveling westbound on Highway 50 when they observed a vehicle in front of them cross over the centerline and make sudden, jerky motions while weaving in its lane. The vehicle crossed over the centerline a second time and remained over the centerline for approximately 400 to 500 feet.

The vehicle turned into the parking lot of a grocery store and deputies conducted a stop.

When they approached the vehicle the driver was using her cellphone and smelled of an alcoholic beverage, and she also had red, watery eyes and slurred speech, the arrest report states. When deputies asked the man for his identification, the man said “I don’t have to provide it.” Deputies advised the man that he did have to provide identification under NRS 171.1233. The man eventually provided his driver’s license to the deputies. He did not have any wants or warrants.

Since the other passengers in the vehicle were intoxicated, deputies informed the man they would be towing the vehicle since it had been driven on public roads and was involved in a crime. The man began to argue and asked for it to be left in the parking lot. Deputies told him it wasn’t going to happen and he was free to leave the scene.

Deputies advised the man that if he continued to yell and curse at the deputies he would be arrested for disorderly conduct. At which point he looked at an officer in the eyes and said “F*** you, Sergeant.”

During the investigation, the man was loud, uncooperative and kept putting his hands in his pockets despite deputies continually asking him to be quiet and keep his hands out of his pockets.

The man continued to say he had nothing to do with what was going on and he didn’t care about anyone in the house. He kept pacing back and forth near the kitchen area of the apartment, and continued to be verbal while keeping his hands in his pockets.

When deputies asked him to sit down, he said “no” and that he didn’t have to do anything deputies told him and continued to pace.

Deputies told him that until his information was returned from dispatch he was not allowed to leave and he needed to get his hands out of his pockets since deputies did not know what he had inside. The man continued to become louder and more verbal, and one deputy had to stop her investigation in the domestic battery to assist when the man refused again to sit down.

The man then put his hands in his pockets yet again, took out two cell phones, and threw them down at the deputy’s feet.

Deputies handcuffed the man, who was yelling so loud deputies had a difficult time hearing or providing information to dispatch over the radio. The man also refused to walk down the stairs of the apartment, and it took two deputies to escort the an out of the apartment and down the stairs in handcuffs.

He was transferred to the Carson City Jail without incident. Bail: $712.
