Fireworks at Carson City Airport part of memorial service
Airport Manager Tim Rowe confirmed the fireworks going off Saturday night at Carson City Airport was part of a planned memorial service.
The fireworks, which began at around 6:15 p.m., prompted multiple calls to 911 dispatch. The fireworks show was on behalf of Ted Melsheimer, a longtime supporter of the Carson City Airport who had a B-25 Bomber "Tootsie" that was often seen in the skies around Carson City and air shows. He died November 17, 2015, according to FitzHenry's Funeral Home.
"He was a great man, a great supporter of the Carson City Airport and loved showing off his B-25 Bomber," said Rowe. "He will be greatly missed."
Rowe said the airport authority approved the fireworks display.
