Early voting begins tomorrow, Saturday Jan. 27 at Carson City Community Center
While the official voting date for the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary is set for Tuesday, February 6, early voting will officially begin tomorrow, Saturday January 27 in Carson City.
Early elections will continue through Friday, February 2.
While in previous years, primaries were held at the Carson City Courthouse, space issues have required all elections to take place at the Carson City Community Center since a new state law passed in 2020 requiring same-day registration to be offered to voters.
“We are so grateful to be able to use the Community Center for Elections,” said Deputy Clerk of Elections Emily Toups. “We need the bigger space that the courthouse cannot provide so going forward, for the foreseeable future, we will be at the Community Center for all elections whether they are primary elections or general elections.”
Toups said that many other city departments have stepped up to help make the process seamless, including Parks and Recreation, Facilities, and IT, and the Elections Department is thankful for their help.
Election Information
The primary election is not to be confused with the Republican Caucus, which is being held on February 8.
If you would like to cast a vote for the Republican party this year that earns your candidate delegates, you will need to do so in the caucus. The primary for the Republican party will not count towards votes. This is because the Nevada Republican party opted not to be a part of the primary process this year.

This primary election is only for the Presidential ticket; the main 2024 Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 11 with early voting beginning on May 25 and continuing through June 7.
Early voting on Saturdays is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early voting on weekdays is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Election day voting is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In person voting for both Early Voting and Election Day will take place at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E William Street.
