Carson City man jailed for making 3 phony phone calls to 911 dispatch
A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday for allegedly making multiple false claim phone calls to 911 dispatch and for suspected felony probation violation, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
According to the arrest report, CCSO deputies were dispatched to a restaurant parking lot for a man calling for help, using the 911 system.
Abraham Louis Sassenberg called emergency dispatch from a cellphone and reported two vehicles boxed him in at a parking lot. Sassenberg stated that several subjects surrounded his vehicle and were yelling at him. Sassenberg stated to the Carson City dispatcher that he was in fear for his safety and that he was going to be killed.
However, deputies arrived on scene within 45 seconds and found no other vehicles or people in the area. The downtown area was desolate with minimal traffic and no pedestrians in the area of the vehicle, the arrest report states.
Deputies found Sassenberg in his vehicle, out of fuel, and an odor of marijuana was observed coming from within the vehicle.
According to the arrest report, Sassenberg made 3 calls for service between late Friday and early Saturday under the same circumstances that evening. During the first two occasions, deputies quickly responded to the area but were unable to locate any of the suspect vehicles or substantiate any of Sassenberg’s claims, the arrest report states.
Due to the nature of the report, this prompted the response of several deputies and caused other calls for service to be held or delayed, the arrest report states.
Sassenberg is on supervision with the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation for escape. This history and what Sassenberg previously reported prompted the response of the Tri-County Gang Unit to return to Carson City from an out-of-county assignment, according to the arrest report.
All three calls were through 911 and not one of the responding deputies were able to substantiate there was in fact an emergency, the arrest report states. Bail: $2,500.
