State lawmakers have allocated a quarter of a billion federal aid dollars to build, preserve and develop affordable housing, the largest state investment in affordable housing infrastructure aimed at alleviating Nevada’s skyrocketing rents and home prices.

The Sonoma Park Dog Park is currently closed through the majority of this month due to turf rebuilding and water repairs, according to signage at the park.

Mark Twain was a resident of Carson City on and off for three years and left just before Nevada became a state. Of course, when he arrived here with his brother Orion Clemens, he was known then as Samuel Langhorne Clemens. It was on February 3, 1863 that he became Mark Twain - thus the writer Mark Twain could be considered as born here.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club is again offering a free beginners class before their monthly social dance April 23rd, Brewery Arts Center, 449 W King St, upstairs ballroom.
