In partnership with Immunize Nevada and Smith's Pharmacy, the Carson City Senior Center is hosting weekly Thursday COVID-19 vaccination events for individuals 65 and older during the month of March. Appointments are required for the two-dose vaccination and appointments are limited.
Family Art Night featured Friday at Carson City's Children's Museum

March 5, 2021 - 5:30pm The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City is hosting its first ever Family Art Night For family art night we will be instructing the color wheel! Each participant will have a take home painting (much like Picasso and Wine, but without the wine) that they did!

Carson City, Quad County COVID-19 Tuesday briefing: 1 death, 10 new cases and 45 recoveries

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, March 2, 2021 that there is an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad County region. CCHHS is also reporting 10 new cases and 45 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region.
Carson City’s Tap Shack sold to new owners, to become The Tap @ Rice St.

Carson City’s Tap Shack has been sold to new owners, long-time residents Todd and Dixie Thomsen, who are currently renovating both the inside and outside patio.
The sale comes with a name change as well, which is now The Tap @ Rice St.

COVID-19 Vaccine Lanes: Understanding your place in line in Carson City and beyond

As the challenges from COVID-19 and the government’s responses are always evolving, so too are the channels of vaccination for the Carson City, Quad-County area.
During the first roll out, there was a tiered system for groups of individuals who would have access to the vaccine. However, now the tiered system has been retired in favor of “Priority Lanes,” which separates the population into two groups, Workforce and General Population.
Carson City students 'Soar into Reading' with launch of National Read Across America Day, Reading Week

Each year, National Read Across America Day is observed on March 2, the birthday of children’s book author Ted Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss. In celebration, many schools often dedicate an entire week as “Reading Week.” In Carson City, students and teachers at several schools hosted special events and activities designed to encourage reading.

Mitsuye (Mitzi) Hoshino of Carson City is one of the most amazing people that I have met in my lifetime. On March 3, 2021 Mitsuye will officially be 100 years old. That alone is quite a feat however there is much more to her story.
50th anniversary: Richard and Stephanie Arrigotti have dedicated lives to WNC

Combined, Richard and Stephanie Arrigotti have been full-time professors at Western Nevada College for 82 years and they have collectively represented the college for 92 years.
To underscore their devotion and dedication to WNC, their 50th wedding anniversary actually coincides with the college’s 50th anniversary. They provide wisdom and insight as WNC celebrates the 50-year anniversary of being founded.
