A 35-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded at 4:42 a.m. to a South Saliman Road residence regarding a dispute. Deputies spoke with the woman and, later, her husband, who returned to the residence after having left.
The suspect stated her husband took her phone and looked at messages that he didn’t like. She told the deputy she came from a domestic partnership and it is a trigger when people take her personal property, according to the report.
The husband said he returned to give the woman her phone back. He had the phone in his possession and a knife in his pocket. A deputy took the phone and the knife from the man, the report states.
The man was asked what happened. He stated he saw some messages on his wife’s phone. He claims he was being “that guy” not wanting to give the phone back to his wife, the report states.
Officers observed blood coming from his nose, a laceration on his right ear, blood on both of his hands and a deep wound to his right index finger and a bump on his forearm.
He told a deputy that he didn’t want to get anyone in trouble, and later stated that the woman scratched him as he tried to take her phone, and that he pushed to get away. He stated the woman bit him on the finger, after coming up from behind trying to attack him. He told the officer “it felt like she was trying to bite it off.”
The woman told deputies in a followup interview that she was trying to get the phone. She stated she broke her nails trying to make coffee, then changing her statement that she broke her nails on the kitchen sink, according to the report.
Deputies observed broken nails with blood on them. She also had a couple red marks on the top of her left hand and upper right hand. She told deputies she and her husband were loud but it was never physical, but was she trying to get the phone away from him.
She was asked if she wanted to talk about the injuries her husband had. She stated she did not remember and has never been in trouble. She was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail. $3,137.
