UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies responded Sunday afternoon to a fire in the area of 20 College Parkway, the Parkway Plaza apartments, which destroyed playground equipment at the complex. There were no injuries and the cause is being investigated.
The fire was reported just after 1 p.m. as reportedly 20 feet in size near and putting out heavy black smoke in the playground area of the apartment complex. The playground equipment was reportedly fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived. Firefighters had knocked down the fire by around 1:25 p.m.
According to CCFD Battalion Chief Micah Horton, firefighters arrived to the fully engulfed fire of playground equipment and were able to knock it down quickly. There was no extensions into any brush and there were no injuries.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. Deputies were told there were juveniles in the area at the time the fire started and are talking with residents in the area as well as checking cameras.
