The League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, in partnership with Sierra Nevada Forums and AAUW Capital (NV) Branch, will present four free election forums featuring candidates on Oct. 7, 8, 12, and 14 beginning at 6 p.m. each night.
The Oct. 7 and 8 forums will be at the Nevada Legislative Building, Room 1214. The Oct. 12 and 14 forums will be held at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St in Carson City. Doors open at 5:30 pm. The forums are co-sponsored by the Nevada Appeal and KUNR public radio.
The free forums will feature state and local candidates appearing on the Nov. 3 ballot. The forums will be conducted with a live audience. Candidates will respond to questions posed by the moderator.
Audience members may ask questions in writing. The forums will be available for later viewing on the Nevada Appeal’s YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/@Nevadaappeal-CarsonCity and through links on organizations’ websites, Facebook pages or other social media.
“Voters who view these forums can be better informed about the candidates and issues,” said Susan Hoffman, LWVNNV board president.

Oct. 7, 2026 at Nevada Legislative Building: Congressional District 2: Teresa Benitez-Thompson; David Flippo (declined); State Assembly District 40: Julie Butler, Oscar Fuentes; State Senate District 16: Lisa Krasner (no response); Crystal Roll.
Oct. 8, 2026 at Nevada Legislative Building: Governor: Aaron Ford (confirmed); Joe Lombardo (invited).
Oct. 12, 2026 at BAC Performance Hall: Nevada State Treasurer: Drew Johnson; Tya Mathis-Coleman; Nevada State Attorney General: Nicole Cannizzaro; Andriana Guzman Fralick (declined); Nevada Lieutenant Governor: Stavros Anthony (no response); Sandra Jauregui; Nevada State Controller: Michael MacDougall; Andy Matthews (no response).
Oct. 14, 2026: at BAC Performance Hall: Carson City Supervisor, Ward 3: Curtis Horton; Mayita Sanchez; Carson City School Board: Adam Heinz; Lupe Ramirez; Carson City District Attorney: David Bailey; Kelly Brandon; Carson City Sheriff: Ken Furlong; Don Gibson; Secretary of State: Cisco Aguilar; Jim Marchant (no response).
Mail-in ballots will be sent to all Carson City voters. In-person early voting is from Saturday, October 17 through Friday, October 30. Election Day is Tuesday November 3. For more information, check the Carson City elections website:
