Carson City Emergency Management and Carson City Health and Human Services will host a Preparedness Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Carson City Community Center.

This year’s fair will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. and will focus on a simple four-step plan: Be Ready, Get Set, Go Now and Recover. The event is free and open to everyone.

September is Preparedness Month, CCHHS is running a “Ready, Set, Go!” Campaign from August to September with education on personal preparedness, ending Preparedness month with the fair, inviting vendors such as Southwest Gas, NV Energy, Public Works Storm Water Department, and more to educate the public on how to best prepared for evacuations, natural disasters or other emergencies, according to the website.

Here is what attendees can expect:

  • Expert Advice: Meet face-to-face with local safety experts.
  • Property Protection: Learn to secure your home against local hazards.
  • Flu Shots: Get vaccinated early with Carson City Health and Human Services.
  • Free Gear: The first 100 families get free essential supplies for an emergency Go-Kit!
