Leadership, service and academic excellence define Jeremiah Urbina’s high school journey. As a first-generation college student, Jeremiah has consistently challenged himself, served others and prepared for a future in healthcare.
At Carson High School, Jeremiah has completed Pre-AP and AP coursework, including AP Seminar, nine AP courses and four years of Health Science and HOSA-aligned classes.
Jeremiah’s passion for healthcare and leadership extends beyond the classroom. As Nevada HOSA Western Region Vice President, he helps support future healthcare professionals through leadership, advocacy and mentorship. He also founded Carson High School’s first FCCLA officer board and represented CHS at the FCCLA State Leadership Conference.
Athletics have also been an important part of Jeremiah’s journey. He helped establish Northern Nevada’s first boys volleyball team and served as team captain. He now gives back as a Carson Middle School Volleyball Co-Coach and Carson High School Freshman Girls Volleyball Manager.
Jeremiah plans to pursue a career as a Pediatric Surgical Physician Associate, with college applications including Rochester Institute of Technology, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, University of Michigan-Flint, Hofstra University and Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Jeremiah is more than just a scholar and athlete. He is kind, compassionate, inspiring and audacious. In his own words from his college essay:
“True audacity is infectious; it is the undercurrent that compels someone else to finally take the risk, speak their mind or step unapologetically into their own skin. My goal isn’t to simply occupy space in the next chapter of my life, but to actively ignite it.”
Ignite is exactly what Jeremiah does. He inspires others to take risks, embrace who they are and believe in what they can accomplish. He leads with purpose, serves with heart and leaves every community he touches brighter than he found it.
