Members of the Sierra Desert Garden Club gathered last week with representatives of the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department to recognize the club’s prior donation of $1,000 that was used to complete the recent planting of a pollinator garden in front of the Wungnema House in Mills Park.

Parks and Open Space staff, and volunteers from Bee City, recently completed the extensive project by planting more than 70 different pollinator-friendly varieties.

This project assists important pollinator species, while also helping to beautify the historic Wungnema House located in  Mills Park – a significant community recreational area that celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.

The Sierra Desert Garden Club has 25 members and has been in existence in Carson City for 49 years.
