Some friendships are simply meant to last a lifetime, and that’s certainly the case for Sammy and King. These bonded 3-year-old boys have already experienced more upheaval than any cat should, and now they’re hoping their next move will finally be their last.
Sammy, the handsome short-haired orange tabby, is the quieter half of the duo. He likes to take a little time getting to know new people, but once he decides you’re a friend, you’ll discover an incredibly sweet, affectionate companion who loves attention and playtime. Earning Sammy’s trust takes a little time, but once you have it, he gives you his whole heart.
King, the striking short-haired gray tabby, is the social butterfly of the pair. He’s never met a stranger and happily greets everyone as if they’re lifelong friends. If you’re looking for a cat who believes every lap was made just for him, King is your guy. His favorite toys are anything with dangling strings, and he never seems to tire of a good play session. His cheerful personality has a way of making even ordinary days a little brighter.
Although their personalities are different, these boys complement each other perfectly and are inseparable. Sammy finds confidence in King’s outgoing nature, while King is happiest when his best friend is close by. They sleep together, play together, and comfort one another, so they must be adopted as a pair.
Sammy and King were surrendered to Catmandu after the woman who had adopted them from another rescue organization discovered that her landlord would not allow pets. Through no fault of their own, these boys once again lost the home they thought would be forever. They didn’t do anything wrong—they simply need someone who can promise them that they will never have to wonder where they’ll be sleeping next.
Both boys are neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their vaccinations. They will tolerate other cats, but much prefer being the only cats in their home. They have not been around dogs to our knowledge. They do well with respectful, school-age children and older.
Prospective adopters should know these two have one delightfully mischievous habit—they are absolute plant demons! If there’s a houseplant within reach, they’ll consider it their personal mission to investigate, nibble, or completely redecorate it. Their new family will either need to be plant-free or keep treasured greenery safely out of reach.
If you’ve ever thought about adopting two cats instead of one, Sammy and King are the perfect reminder that sometimes love comes as a package deal. They have already found their best friend in each other. Now all they need is the family they can love for the rest of their lives.

We are open for adoptions Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We ask prospective adopters to arrive no later than 3 p.m. so there is plenty of time to visit with the cats before adoptions close. These boys have already had enough goodbyes. Somewhere out there is the family whose “hello” will become the happy ending they’ve been waiting for.
