Colorful carnival lights brightened a dreary Thursday evening sky as the RSVP Fair and Carnival opened at Mills Park for its first of four days during the Nevada Day weekend in Carson City.

Gates opened at 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon amidst wet, gray skies. Carnival activities run until 9 p.m. tonight.

Now in its 31st year, the RSVP Nevada Day Fairand Carnival has grown to be a highlight of the Silver State’s annual birthday celebration, chockful of family fun and entertainment after the Nevada Day Parade down Carson Street.

Carnival rides begin at noon Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend. There will also be Karaoke, DJ and live music, as well as food and vendors at Mills Park.

Wristbands for all-day unlimited rides cost $30. Visit the RSVP booth at Mills Park for a $5 off coupon during the fair and carnival.
