A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday 9:57 p.m. in the area of Columbia Way and Fairmont on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and driving without a license following a traffic accident, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers arrived at the intersection and found a black Honda sedan that had rear ended two parked vehicles. There wasn’t roadway lighting and the area is residential. The black Honda was traveling north on Columbia. There was about 111 feet of right wheel lock skid and about 66 feet of left wheel lock skid, according to the arrest report.
Neighbors said they saw the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed going into the bend. One witness said the Honda was driving “like a bat out of hell” and they were just waiting for it to crash, the arrest report states. There were no injuries.
The officer spoke with the 19-year-old driver who said he had left his friend’s house and was in second gear and was doing more than 25 mph but did not know how fast he was going. He said when he came out of the bend, he slammed on his brakes and pulled on the emergency brake, the report said.
At first he told officers he did not have a driver’s license on him. It was confirmed through dispatch that he only had a valid ID card and did not have a license, the arrest report states. Bail: $829.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man, John James Capitani, was arrested Monday, 1:50 p.m. in the 4000 block of Tara Street on felony suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and misdemeanor violation of a domestic temporary protection order.
According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to a residence because the suspect was allegedly in violation of the TPO. Dispatch confirmed the man had been served the Carson City Justice Court protection order on April 24.
A deputy arrived at the scene and could see the suspect’s unoccupied truck parked on the lower part of the property near E. Nye Lane. Officers blocked the vehicle’s exit. Officers went to the entrance of the garage and encountered the man. He came out willingly and said he knew he was in violation of the order. He said he was trying to sneak in and get some of his belongings. The order said to stay 100 yards from the address, the arrest report states.
The man was taken into custody for violation of the TPO. He told the officer he had medication on him that he said does not have the prescription bottle. The officer recovered the medication from the man’s pocket, identified as Subtex, an opiate detox controlled substance. Bail: $5,137.
— A 27-year-old Mound House man was arrested Monday, 2 p.m. in the 4300 block of South Carson Street on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of an extended protection order, issued Feb. 9, 2015 out of Walker River Township court. Bail: $3,140.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 9:18 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Carson Street on five misdemeanor charges, including two warrants.
According to the arrest report, an officer was driving on south Curry Street near 10th and saw a red Dodge Neon going southbound and speeding. The officer stopped the man who identified himself with a California ID card. A computer check showed he had the confirmed warrants for his arrest issued out of Carson City Justice court dated Feb. 24 and March 18, 2015.
The man was unable to provide officers with proof of insurance for the vehicle. He was arrested for the warrants. While conducting an inventory of the vehicle, officers found a white soda can between the front seats of the car. The can felt more solid than it should be and it rattled when it shook. The officer opened the can and found that it had been turned into a hidden compartment with a lid that unscrewed. Inside the can officers found a glass pipe with marijuana residue and a clear plastic baggy with marijuana. Charges are Possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance, violation of a suspended sentence, and failure to appear in court. Bail: $3,826.
— A 27-year-old transient was booked into jail Monday, noon on a misdemeanor warrant, violation of a suspended sentence, issued Jan. 15, 2015. Bail $1,000.
