Carson City Park Ranger led programs in May feature the 8th annual Kids to Parks Day and Halfway to Halloween Cemetery Tour.
Kids to Parks Day
“Kids to Parks Day is a national day of outdoor play celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May. The day connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks and public lands through thousands of park events that promote discovery and exploration in the great outdoors.” – National Park Trust

The community is invited to Mills Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, for the 8th annual Kids to Parks Day event here in Carson City! The celebration will include music, food, outdoor activities from local organizations, educational booths, and the Junior Park Ranger Olympics! The whole community is invited to join in on this fun day of outdoor play!

Halfway to Halloween Cemetery Tour
Join the Carson City Park Rangers and special guest, LeeAnn KeeVeer, for a tour of spooky historical fun at Lone Mountain Cemetery! Travel around the cemetery learning about the lives and deaths of Carson’s famous historical figures.

This tour will take us through the historical sections of the cemetery, and we will be walking for about a mile. Dress for the weather, bring plenty of water and remember close-toed shoes. A $10 donation to Lone Mountain Cemetery is encouraged but not required. Donations can be made at the start of the program.

— Open to all ages, minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
— $10 donation is encouraged but not required!
— Dogs are not welcome on this activity as all pets are prohibited inside Lone Mountain Cemetery, you will not be able to participate if you bring along a pet.
— If you or a family member needs it, Park Rangers has one Grit Freedom all-terrain wheelchair available. If you’d like to request use of this wheelchair during our program, email parkrangers@carsoncity.gov. This request is on a first come first serve basis.
