Curtis Horton

Carson City Supervisor Curtis Horton has announced he will seek re-election to represent Ward 3. Horton was first elected in 2022 and brings decades of local government experience to the role.

A longtime Carson City resident, Horton spent 35 years with the city’s Public Works Department, retiring in 2020 as Deputy Public Works Director.

Horton said he is proud of the work accomplished during his first term, particularly the comprehensive revision of the Carson City Master Plan.

“All of us on the board worked very hard to revise the Carson City Master Plan,” Horton said. “We worked closely with staff and listened to community members to ensure we developed a plan that best served the community.”

He emphasized the importance of long-term planning, noting that the updated master plan provides a roadmap for sustainable growth, efficient land use, and infrastructure development. “It helps attract investment, improves quality of life through better amenities, and ensures resilience into the future,” Horton said.

Throughout his term, Horton has been a strong advocate for maintaining and enhancing Carson City’s parks and open space. “These areas play a key role in residents’ physical and mental health, strengthen social connections, and support the local economy through tourism and increased property values.”

Looking ahead, Horton identified street repairs as a top priority.

“Street repairs remain a major focus,” he said. “We need new ideas and out-of-the-box thinking to move this forward.” Horton acknowledged the ongoing challenge of funding infrastructure improvements and said he is committed to working toward solutions. “We need to find a revenue source that most people can agree on,” he said. “I will work diligently to accomplish this goal and, over the next few years, make significant strides in this area.”
