UPDATE: The Brewery Arts Center on Monday announced the winner of the Tamale Festival. Congratulations are in order for Bubbly Waffle Hub for taking first place.
Brewery Arts Center said on its social media page that that it was packed with visitors from from Zephyr Cove, Dayton, Reno, Silver City, Sparks and many more. It extended thanks to all the people who joined participated and came to the event.
“We look forward to taking in all of the feed back, making improvements, expanding the seating and vending tables and celebrating with everyone next year,” according to the Facebook post.

With the promise of delicious tamales, entertainment and more, well over 100 locals packed the Brewery Arts Center on Sunday for the first hour of the inaugural Carson City Tamale Festival.
Organizers didn’t know what to expect being it was the first of its kind in Carson City. But by a half hour into it, they had an idea as the line to get in extended and stretched along the sidewalk on King Street.
The line may be long but the tamales are delicious and worth the wait, according people making their way through the vendors, sampling along the way. See the photo gallery below.
The all-inclusive community event celebrates Hispanic culture and the sacred tamale. Along with tamales and live music, there’s dancing, kids’ activities and more.

The event continues until 5 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 West King Street, Carson City.
