Over the summer, the new Centro Market has been going up next to the CVS Pharmacy store in the shopping center at the corner of Highway 50 E. and Airport Road, and this week, the fencing around the perimeter came down, indicating construction is winding down!
Co-owner and Chief Operations Officer Pat Beauchamp of SB Builders, which has been managing the project, confirmed that the build is nearly finished, and is anticipated to wrap up in December.

He told Carson Now that owners Herbert Muro and Armando Valencia are hoping to open the doors in February after permitting is completed.
The Mission Revival building style was chosen to align with the current El Centro Market’s architectural features, and during its initial ground breaking announcements, it was shared that owners Muro and Valencia invested an estimated $5 million into the project “to provide a modernized and accessible space for the community and Centro Market’s taqueria will boast a blend of indoor and outdoor dining space for customers to enjoy.”
Centro Market has been operating at its current location just down the way on E. William for over twenty years, and was recently honored as September’s Ambassador of the Month from the Carson City School District highlighting their continued commitment to Carson City schools, “particularly Empire Elementary School, and for their generous financial and in-kind contributions to enhance the educational and cultural experiences for students in Carson City.”
