A 21-year-old man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony child abuse/neglect, possession of a gun with altered or removed serial number and other alleged offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Following an investigation, Aaxel Rey Aguilar was taken into custody at 1:15 p.m. in the area of Northridge Drive and Eastridge Lane. He was also booked for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery and DUI.
On Saturday at around 11:30 a.m. deputies responded to the area of Idaho Street and Sheffield Manor for a report of domestic battery. Dispatch advised the suspect had left the scene in a vehicle. A deputy observed a woman walking on Sheffield and made contact with her. She was visibly upset and shaking during the interview, the report states.
She said the suspect was dropping the children off and that she went out to the vehicle with the man to retrieve car seats that belonged to her. She stated when she reached into the vehicle to grab a car seat, the man pulled her out and pushed her where she hit his passenger side mirror and it broke. She stated she got the car seats out and the man left. At the time of the interview she did not have any visible injuries. She stated she never hit the man nor did the man hit her during the incident that morning.
She stated the previous night she was at a bar dancing with a male when the suspect showed up. She stated he got mad she was there with another man. She said the suspect dragged her out of the bar area. She also stated the suspect was trying to fight the male she was with, according to the report.
She told deputies the bouncers broke it up and the suspect left. She said he then returned to the bar with other individuals.
She also stated she had videos of the suspect beating her up and threatening her. One of the videos showed the man holding a knife to his own throat. He then walks toward the woman, striking her multiple times, the report states.
The victim also showed the deputy a video of a “ghost” gun that man had in his possession. The video showed a black slide with grayish grip and a blank serial number plate under the slide. The video showed a black clear magazine and black extended magazine with a blue turtle sticker on it, the report states. She also showed the deputy a photo of the man holding the firearm previous described with the extended magazine in the weapon, the report states. She informed the officer the man has multiple firearms that he keeps inside his vehicle, according to the report.
She stated the man has a new girlfriend, who she did not want the children to be around because she hadn’t met her yet. She stated that while she was in the car grabbing the car seats, the female was yelling at her and threatening her.
She stated that when the suspect dropped off the children, she was able to smell the odor of alcohol coming from his person.
The deputy notes in the report that in many of the videos, the children are present when the physical abuse is happening. The report did not mention whether the suspect is the children’s father.
The victim said the man had the guns out on the table and in bed with him and would “rack” the slide around to intimidate her. The videos were uploaded into evidence.
A CCSO deputy interviewed one of the children, who stated they didn’t want to leave their mom and said the man has “pow pow” time and hits him with a belt, the report stats.
The child, whose age was not included in the report, showed an overhead swinging motion when describing “pow pow” time. The child stated the man would drive fast when they are in the vehicle and that it scares them, the report states. The child also said he goes over to the man’s friends houses, where there are guns lying out. The child knew what a gun looked like based on the hand gesture he provided to describe it and stated the man asks him to lie to his mother so she doesn’t get mad. The child also stated they watched the man push their mother in front of the house.
Deputies located the man’s vehicle where a traffic stop was initiated. The suspect slow rolled the stop from North Lompa Lane and Northridge Drive to Eastridge Drive. Due to the information gathered about weapons being in the vehicle, CCSO officers performed a high-risk traffic stop. The man was taken into custody. A female was also in the vehicle at the time of the stop. She was detained for further investigation, the report states.
Deputies searched the man. No weapons, contraband or means of escape were located on his person. While searching, the officer observed the man had red, watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. He was placed in the back of the patrol vehicle for further questions.
The suspect provided consent search his vehicle. Deputies on scene located boxes of 9mm with empty casings inside, a black clear magazine, which was observed in the video shown by the victim and a black gun light. A gun case was located in the trunk of the vehicle and safe.
The man was read his Miranda warning. He stated he understood but did not wish to answer the question. He stated the woman had hit him, broke his mirror and shattered his phone.
The deputy informed the man they could not ask him questions about the case but would listen to what he had to say. While the man was talking, he stated deputies could go through the “gun box” and he pointed out which key opened it. No weapons or weapon accessories were located in the gun box. He said multiple times that officers could search his vehicle, the report states.
The man refused standardized field sobriety tests, preliminary breath testing and the request for voluntary evidence. He was taken to jail. A warrant for blood evidence was granted by a Carson City judge. Bail: $40,000.

— A 38-year-old man was arrested Saturday for a felony warrant alleging attempted robbery, residential burglary and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.
Following an investigation, suspect Kevin Ross was taken into custody. He was also booked for suspicion of misdemeanor reckless driving and damaging an unattended vehicle.
According to the report, Carson City detectives worked with Washoe County authorities in attempting the find Ross, who was wanted on the active felony robbery warrant. It was learned the suspect was in an apartment. Detectives with Washoe County HERO and SET conducted a “surround” and call out to the suspect. After approximately 30 minutes the suspect exited the apartment and cooperative with verbal commands. He was taken into custody for the warrant and then to Carson City Jail where he was booked. Bail: $25,000.
— A 50-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued Sept. 11, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing. Bail: $150.
— A 32-year-old Reno man for a misdemeanor warrant alleging violation of a protection order. The warrant was issued Sept. 8, 2025 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 43-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for misdemeanor trespassing. Bail: $150.
— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday, 2:42 a.m., at Long and State Street for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $2,500.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday, 3:01 a.m. in the 800 block of Little Lane for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $2,500.
