UPDATE 2:55PM: Firefighters on scene at the Dayton fire report forward fire progress stopped.

Firefighters from Central Lyon County Fire, Storey County and Carson City are on scene of an escaped controlled burn off of Minor Road in Dayton. Arriving units estimate the fire at 5 acres, spreading into heavy fuels, according to the Eastern Sierra Fire & Ice page on Facebook.
There’s also a fire burning in Smith Valley. That fire is an agriculture fire that escaped and got out of control. No word yet on any structures threatened in both fires.
Both fires have put up large plumes of smoke visible throughout the area.
