The historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad and Railway Commission in partnership with Rail Events, Inc. through Warner Brothers Consumer Products, Inc. is looking to cast additional actors and actresses for their annual production of “The Polar Express” train ride for the 2017 season.
We are seeking actors and actresses age 13 to adult to fill roles of Stewards, Elves, Chefs, Conductors, Hobos and boys age 8 to 12 to portray the Hero Boy in the story. All cast members will receive per diem remuneration. All performances are aboard the V&T train cars. The Polar Express runs 25 nights from November 18th – Dec. 30th, 2017. Cast is not required to be available for all 25 nights of performances, but are requested to be available for a minimum of 10 performances.
Rehearsals will be held Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s each week starting Tuesday, Sept. 12 through Nov. 10. All rehearsals will be held at the V&T Depot in Carson City from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. As this is very much a teamwork show those cast as stewards, chefs and elves are asked to be available to attend rehearsals a minimum of two nights a week every week. Those cast as conductor, hero boy, and hobo will be asked to commit to one night a week of rehearsal and be available for two nights if needed.
The Polar Express train rides are based on the holiday story book and feature film from Warner Brothers Pictures about a doubting young boy who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve. Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, actors and actresses will bring this classic story to life before the eyes of pajama clad passengers on a magical journey as this nighttime train whisks families away for an unforgettable ride to the North Pole. During the journey, a train conductor will punch tickets and stewards and chefs will serve hot chocolate and cookies for passengers to enjoy while Chris Van Allsburg’s reads his classic story. At the North Pole, Santa will board the train and greet the children with the first gift of Christmas and elves will entertain passengers with Christmas carols and merriment as the train returns to Carson City.
This is a fun and exciting production to be a part of. If you are interested in recreating the story of The Polar Express for thousands of guests who make this magical journey each year please come to a rehearsal on September 12th, 13th or 14th at the V&T Depot in Carson City. If you would like additional information about the production and the commitment please contact Carla Wilson, Talent Director; Email – cw3595@charter.net; Phone or Text (775) 781-0664.
