Carson City Moose Lodge No. 2709 donated $500 to the local Senior Center Meals on Wheels to support the impressive work done for local seniors.

Courtney Warner, Director of Carson City Senior Center, shared these facts: 105,000 meals are delivered every year, and recipients must be housebound by disability, medical hardship of lack of transportation. Four routes are used to deliver a fresh made meal each weekday and frozen meals for weekends to approximately 335 seniors who must be Carson City residents.

Some comments from seniors: “I’m 96 and it’s difficult to stand long enough to prepare meals and I make mistakes in cooking.”

“So grateful for MOW. It’s so good to have a healthy meal every day. I can’t do much cooking or afford a nice meal very often.”

“I would not have a warm meal because I don’t trust myself around a hot stove (forget to turn it off). Get to see and talk to someone five days a week. A big thank you to all.”
