Another day of potential heavy rain has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood watch on Sunday for Carson City and surrounding counties.
The watch is in effect from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday for the greater Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley areas, the Lake Tahoe Basin, southern Lyon County, Mineral County, northern Washoe County and Mono County in California.
The weather service advises that heavy rainfall will increase the potential for flash flooding for creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone areas.
NWS forecasters advise flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible, with an increased risk for flash flooding along the Davis and Conner burn scar areas as well as in the Black Rock Desert where the Burning Man festival is being held. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
NWS forecasters advise people to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
See the National Weather Service website here for any changes and updates.
