College isn’t only about earning a degree. Sometimes it’s about discovering something new, exploring a lifelong interest or simply taking a class because the subject has always fascinated you.
Western Nevada College is inviting community members to embrace the idea that you’re never too old — or too accomplished — to learn something new. Space is still available in several engaging Fall Semester courses, including Geology of National Parks, Physical Geography and Criminal Justice.
Whether you’ve wondered how the landscapes of America’s national parks were formed, want to better understand the physical forces that shape our planet, or are curious about crime, justice and the systems designed to keep communities safe, WNC offers an opportunity to explore these subjects in a college classroom.
“These are great examples of courses that can appeal well beyond students pursuing a particular degree,” said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. “Learning is something we can continue throughout our lives. We want members of our community to know that WNC is their college, and there are opportunities here to explore subjects that genuinely interest them.”
Geology of National Parks gives students the opportunity to explore the geologic stories behind some of America’s most remarkable landscapes and natural treasures.
Physical Geography examines the natural processes that shape Earth, providing a deeper understanding of landscapes, climate, water and the physical world around us.
Criminal Justice offers students an opportunity to explore the institutions, issues and practices that make up the criminal justice system and their impact on society and communities.
The courses are open to WNC students as well as community members interested in personal enrichment, continuing their education or simply learning something new.
With Fall Semester approaching, interested students are encouraged to enroll soon while space remains available.
Never stop exploring. Never stop growing. Never stop learning.
