Pedestrian safety is a two-way street. Nevada State Police is partnering this month with law enforcement agencies statewide in the Joining Forces campaign that urges pedestrians and drivers to be aware of each other and to share the road responsibly.
The pedestrian safety campaign runs now through August, 31, 2024.
As of July 31, 67 pedestrians have lost their lives in pedestrian crashes on Nevada’s roadways, according to Nevada State Police in a news release.
In an effort to reverse this number, state troopers and partnering agencies will be issuing citations to pedestrians and motorists who are violating traffic safety laws.
“Nevada State Police Highway Patrol remains dedicated to bringing the number of fatalities on our roadways to zero through promoting safe pedestrian and motorist behavior,” according to the release. “Whether you are in a vehicle or on foot, stay alert and safely share the road.”
