A Gardnervile man has been arrested and faces charges in connection with several vehicle burglaries last month in the Indian Hills area in north Douglas County. A 15-year-old male was also arrested.
Nathan Centeno, 18, was arrested on Thursday by Douglas County Sheriff’s Office investigators. The arrest was made after an investigation following several vehicle burglaries that happened on July 10.

On Thursday, August 2nd, 2012, Investigators of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18 year-old Nathan Centeno of Gardnerville for numerous vehicle burglaries committed in Douglas County.

The arrest came as a result of a several weeks-long investigation by DCSO Detective Nadine Chrzanowski into a multi vehicle burglary spree that occurred in the early morning hours of July 10th, 2012.

On Tuesday, July 10th, 2012, at approximately 4:00 am, a DCSO deputy was patrolling the residential neighborhood of Indian Hills in north Douglas County when he saw two young males riding bicycles in the street. Due to early morning hour, the deputy attempted to stop the subjects to ascertain their age and activity. The two males quickly fled from the deputy on their bicycles, and turned down a nearby street, where they dumped the bikes and fled on foot through residential backyards and greenbelts. The deputy was unable to locate the subjects.

A subsequent check of the neighborhood revealed that several unlocked vehicles had been burglarized that evening. Miscellaneous cash, coin and cigarettes had been stolen.

It was also discovered that the bicycles the subjects had been riding had been stolen from an open/unsecured garage in the neighborhood earlier that evening. The bicycles were processed for possible evidence, and returned to the owner.

Through follow-up investigation, Detective Chrzanowski identified two possible suspects in the incident. One suspect was Centeno, the other a 15 year-old friend of his who resides in the neighborhood.

During interviews with Centeno and the 15 year-old accomplice, both admitted to committing the burglary/thefts.

Centeno was subsequently booked for the crimes of Theft, Burglary and Delaying/Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Centeno’s 15 year-old male accomplice was arrested and turned over to the Douglas County Juvenile Probation Office.
