The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize the invaluable contributions of our Administrative Volunteers, whose commitment and service play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office and the selfless support to our organization every day.
Our Administrative Volunteers engage in a variety of essential tasks that enhance the efficiency of our services. From January 2026 – July 2026 CCSO Volunteers have selflessly donated 10,486 hours of service, equating to a salary cost savings of $263,792.00 to CCSO.
Administrative Volunteers Have Volunteered Over 1,414 Hours During 2026

Civil and Records Office: CCSO Volunteers assists with general office work including but not limited to; Paperwork, filing and scanning. One CCSO Volunteer, Garey Grover, has been a pivotal force in scanning over 80,000 case jackets from paper form into a digital storage format.
Evidence Department assistance: One CCSO Volunteer assists the Evidence Custodian with the disposal of property, cleans, files, and helps with organizing the evidence area.
Front Counter Volunteers Have Volunteered Over 634 Hours During 2026
These dedicated individuals are often the first point of contact for the public, performing a range of duties that include:
Greeting Visitors: Providing a warm welcome and identifying visitors’ needs. Answering telephone calls.
Assisting with Directions: Guiding individuals to the Civil and Records Office, Dispatch, or other necessary services.
Supporting Staff: Working closely with the Front Counter Support Specialist and the Civil Department to fulfill office needs.
Medication Disposal Assistance: Helping in the safe deposit of medications for destruction.
Training Participation: Attending in-house training sessions to enhance their skills.
Volunteer Hours Logging: Keeping track of all volunteer hours as required.
Scheduling Availability: Setting up working hours on the volunteer calendar. Volunteers must be dependable and able to remain seated for up to 4–5 hours. Shifts are typically 4.5 hours long, available Monday through Friday, with morning and afternoon slots. All federal holidays are observed.

Jail Admin & Visitation Volunteers Have Volunteered Over 267 Hours During 2026
Our CCSO Jail Visitation Volunteers play a crucial role in facilitating visits with two shifts: Thursday’s and Saturday’s.
Thursday’s shift is responsibilities include managing phone calls and entering inmate information into our visitation log for Saturday visits. Basic computer skills are essential.
Saturday’s shift, volunteers verify visitor identification, direct them to appropriate visitation booths, and manage the flow of visitation in 15-minute increments. This requires teamwork, as visits are conducted with two or three volunteers. There are no visitations on federal holidays.
The contributions of our volunteers are integral to the success of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. Their commitment not only supports our operations but also strengthens the bond between law enforcement and the community we serve.
