Just before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, the much-beloved Carson City bell at the Nevada Commission on Tourism building, went on the fritz.
The bell itself used to physically ring, but was changed to a digital bell in the last few decades, emitting from the Paul Laxalt Building in downtown Carson City.
All has generally been well besides a few times when the bell stopped functioning, but on Thursday the bell took a new turn by malfunctioning in a repetitive”ding-dong” sound that has been continuing for over a half hour.
It is not known what is causing the malfunction, or when it will be fixed.
