Carson Now Marilyn LaBadie was at the front lines for a mini-Search and Rescue operation Wednesday:
On May 27, around 6:30 a.m., I noticed a duck lying near a storm drain in Silver Oak. I initially thought she was injured, but she flew away as I approached. She stayed in the area, nervously quacking and flying around.
I soon discovered why: ten of her baby ducklings were at the bottom of the storm drain! I was unsure of whom to call, so I put out a post on Nextdoor and got several suggestions and an offer to help.
I ended up getting a hold of Carson City Public Works and two of their employees came out quickly to rescue the ducklings.
