Nevada Museum of Art Release

The Nevada Museum of Art is again offering free museum memberships to educators in Nevada. The program is funded by generous donations from Clark/Sullivan Construction, Martin Iron Works, Merit Electric, RHP Mechanical and Stitser Drywall.

The Museum offers Educator Memberships as a way to help educators develop a deeper knowledge of art practices and interdisciplinary learning as well as empowering them to act as ambassadors for student-centered creative and critical thinking.

“Clark/Sullivan Construction is proud to be one of the local contractor sponsors of the Educator Membership program offered by the Nevada Museum of Art,” said Jarrett Rosenau, President / NV Operations, Clark/Sullivan Construction. “The students who benefit from STEAM-based education will ultimately be the creative thinkers who excel at a Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum in our schools. That’s just one reason it is always a priority for us to show our support for both the Museum and to educators and students across Nevada.”

During the pandemic, the Museum continued to offer virtual Educator Evening programming that reached some 1,200 educators.

Now, with the Museum open to the public again, a hybrid model of in-person and virtual learning will reach more than 1,500 educators.

Educator Evenings at the Nevada Museum of Art provide professional learning opportunities to help teachers make connections between the Museum’s collections and exhibitions, STEAM, and interdisciplinary art education, all grounded in Nevada Academic Content Standards.

“What a wonderful opportunity for our educators to have access to the year-around programming at the Nevada Museum of Art,” said Amy Barthel, Fine Arts Coordinator for the Washoe County School District. “We know how important the arts are to providing a comprehensive and creative education for our students, and we look forward to sharing this news with our educators. We are grateful for the generous donations that made this possible.”

“Educators play a vital role in helping develop the next generation of creative thinkers and problem solvers,” said Amy Oppio, Chief Operating Officer of the Nevada Museum of Art. “We are so grateful to the local businesses that have offered to fund this important program in support of Nevada’s educators.”

Educator Memberships are available by application on the Museum website.

Educators must be currently teaching in the Washoe County School District. Please check the website for details.
