“May’s report continues to show steady progress in Nevada’s labor market. The state added jobs over the month despite the loss of nearly a thousand jobs from Spirit Airlines in Las Vegas. That closure is reflected in the industries that include transportation, which saw declines of just over 1,000 jobs over the month. Those losses were offset by gains in professional and business services which added 2,600 jobs over the month. The state’s unemployment rate and labor force participation rate both fell over the month, to 5.2 percent and 63.4 percent, respectively,” said David Schmidt, Chief Economist.
