A 31-year-old woman was arrested Monday for suspicion of felony battery which constitutes domestic violence with substantial bodily harm, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Serena Christine Bautista was taken into custody at 1:40 p.m. after turning herself into the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. The victim was hospitalized with reported facial fractures and a broken nose.

According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched at 12:30 a.m. to 20 College Parkway for a report of a battery. The reporting party told dispatch the suspect had given her a black eye and dragged her out of an apartment.

Deputies arrived and located the reporting party near a walkway. Her right eye was purple and swollen shut, consistent with a periorbital hematoma. She was bleeding from her nose and had a slight deformation of her nose. She also had dried blood on her face that appeared to originate from her nose and mouth. The deputy spoke with the victim and noted a slight odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath, the report states.

She told deputies she had been dating the suspect and there have been prior unreported incidents of domestic violence where the suspect injured her. She said that she could not remember what happened before the suspect hit her and admitted to drinking two buzzball cocktails that night, according to the report.

The victim said the suspect got angry and began hitting her in the face. The victim could not provide any further details about what had happened and denied blacking out or losing consciousness, the report states.

Due to the severity of her injuries, Carson City Fire Department Medic 52 responded to treat the victim, where she was taken to a Reno hospital for medical treatment.

While speaking with the victim, a sergeant and deputy knocked on the door of the apartment and made multiple announcements to get the suspect to open the door. The investigating deputy contacted the on-call district attorney and requested a warrant for entry into the apartment to arrest the suspect for felony domestic battery. The on-call district attorney rejected the request as the parties were separated and there was no evidence to gather from inside the apartment, the report states.

The deputy completed a victim form and gave it to the victim’s sister to give it to the victim when she saw her at the hospital. The sister advised there is a history of domestic violence between the two and this was not the first time the suspect injured the victim.

Deputies attempted to contact the suspect a second time, knocking on her front door and windows, announcing several times to no avail. CCSO checked the area and did not locate any cameras covering the specific apartment unit.

The investigating deputy did find a piece of cardboard that was covered in blood in front of the front door to the apartment. Also found were blood droplets on the walkway adjacent to the patio area of the apartment. There was a partially consumed buzzball sitting on the patio fence. When examined, the deputy noted there was blood on the buzzball and a large blood spot on the fence next to it, the report states.

Deputies photographed the exterior of the apartment, including where blood droplets were found. A records check confirmed the suspect lived in the apartment.

At 6:44 a.m. deputies received information from the victim’s father who stated his daughter had sustained two facial fractures and a broken nose, the report states.

Deputies later conducted an interview with the suspect after she was read her Miranda rights. She agreed to speak. She said the two had met while both were in custody at Carson City Jail and became friends since being released.

The suspect said she and the woman have had a falling out and said the night of May 10, 2026, the woman reached out to her asking to hang out. She agreed but said she informed her she needed to have a ride ready as she knew they would be drinking and that she (suspect) would have to go to work Monday, according to the report.

The suspect said the woman refused to leave and so she said she grabbed her by the arms and dragged her out of the apartment, pulling her hair. She was asked if, other than dragging the woman out of the apartment, did the physical altercation continue. The suspect said the only physical part was her dragging the woman out of the apartment. She said the woman rode an electric scooter to the apartment and thought she injured her face by falling from the scooter. She was asked if she saw the woman riding the scooter while intoxicated. She said she had not because once she was outside the apartment, she returned inside and locked the door, the report states.

While speaking with the suspect, officers observed discoloration on her right hand and knuckles of her index and middle finger. She was asked about the discoloration on her knuckles and she was adamant the discoloration was a birthmark. Deputies also observed bruising on the back of her right arm. She was asked how she obtained the bruise. She said it was from grabbing the woman, attempting to pull her to the ground, according to the report.

Officers informed the suspect the woman’s injuries were not consistent with falling off a scooter and more consistent with being punched in the face. The suspect said she did not hit the woman and did not know how she got the injuries because when she dragged her out of the apartment, she did not have them, the report states. She was asked why the woman would say she hit her and the suspect said she was not sure. The suspect was booked for alleged felony battery which constitutes domestic violence with substantial bodily harm. Bail: $15,000.
