Law enforcement officers across the Silver State are participating in the annual Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial Run, which has spanned over several days and more than 400 miles between Las Vegas and Carson City.
The run honors all fallen law enforcement officers in the State of Nevada, with a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, May 1, 1 p.m. the State Capitol in Carson City.
Multiple law enforcement agencies from around the Silver State are running including Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, Reno Police Department, Mineral County Sheriff’s Office, Churchill County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

“My appreciation to everyone who is caught up in the traffic Wednesday as the statewide Memorial was brought into Carson City,” said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. “It is critical that we recognize, remember and cherish the lives of those officers lost in the line of duty and Carson City is proud to be the home base of the Nevada State Peace Officers Memorial.”

During the run, the participating law enforcement agencies pass forward the baton that holds the names of Nevada’s fallen law enforcement officers. Every step taken in honor and remembrance of those heroes who sacrificed to serve and protect.
The run will conclude in Carson City on Wednesday, followed by the Nevada Peace Officer Memorial event Thursday at the state capitol at 1 p.m.
