Lisa Schuette and Bob Truesdale danced an East Coast swing medley to garner first place in the “Local Celebrities Who Think They Can Dance” contest April 27 at High Sierra Swing Dance Club’s sixth-annual Spring Ball at the Carson Nugget.

More than 180 people enjoyed a buffet dinner, voting for the contest winners and dancing to a variety of music. Schuette is Carson City School District’s Teacher of the Year and founder of the Carson Animal Services Initiative. Runners up were, first, Carson City supervisor Jim Shirk, dancing with Emily Thicke; and second, Jeff Pace, owner of Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery, dancing with Jo Ann Grace. Other contestants and instructors were Nevada Appeal account manager Tonya Champa and Earl Case, Michelle Shirk and Armando Navarez, and Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau events planner Joy Evans and Rainer Herm.
