Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the circumstances of a stabbing that happened late Thursday night in which the victim drove himself to the hospital emergency room, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

The 24-year-old Carson City man, who entered Carson Tahoe Hospital shortly after 10:30 p.m., suffered multiple stab wounds and is in serious condition. The case is under investigation by detectives.

A forensics team collected evidence including a large amount blood from the vehicle. The victim parked the car in a handicapped parking spot and walked into the hospital. Multiple stab wounds were treated from the neck to the waist, according to witnesses on scene.

At approximately 10:43 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, reporting a “stabbing” victim had arrived at the Emergency Room. The injuries were substantial and the victim had no identifying information in his possession.

Once deputies arrived at the scene, they were able to determine by video surveillance that the victim drove himself to the hospital in a car, a red Chevrolet Camaro, which was parked outside the hospital. The victim’s identity, which has not been released, was determined through the vehicle registration and later confirmed by family members, said Furlong.

Detectives believe the victim arrived in Reno on a bus from San Francisco in the late afternoon, and was last seen in the downtown area of Reno, shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Family members have stated that the victim was coming home from a short trip to the Ukraine. The victim would have been carrying several pieces of luggage and may have eaten at a downtown area fast food restaurant, while he was attempting to get a ride to Carson City.

Detectives believe he arrived safely at his father’s Thompson Street residence in West Carson City at some undetermined time in the evening. The victim is also believed to have picked up his car (the Camaro) at his father’s house and left the Thompson Street residence safely. He was not seen or contacted again until he arrived at the emergency room.

Detectives assigned to this case have identified the victim as a 24 year old white male adult, 6’3”, 188 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Due to the severe injuries suffered, law enforcement officers have not yet been able to interview the victim. Anyone with any information regarding this case, or information pertaining to the victim’s transportation to Carson City, is asked to please contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office at 887-COPS (2677).
