Carson City, Nev. (April 25, 2025) — The Carson High School (CHS) Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) successfully completed the 2025 Washoe County, Silver State Brigade Drill Season with a first-place overall win at North Valleys High School this past Saturday.

The cadets achieve a remarkable record of three consecutive meet wins at Carson High School March 15, Spanish Springs High School April 5 and North Valleys High School April 19. The team excelled at those Drill Meets in various categories including personnel inspection, unarmed regulation, unarmed exhibition, armed regulation, armed exhibition and color guard.

“After months of rigorous training, our teams showcased their exceptional skill, discipline and teamwork,” said Senior Chief Jerry Skirvin, NJROTC instructor at Carson High School. “In a highly competitive field, we outperformed opposing JROTC units in Washoe and Churchill County.”

The NJROTC program aims to teach high school students the values of citizenship, leadership, character and community service while also providing a foundation for future careers in the military or other fields. The program is offered in more than 600 high schools across the United States.

“This outstanding achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our cadets, instructors and supporters,” Senior Chief Skirvin continued. “We look forward to building on this accomplishment in the upcoming season.”
