A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested for felony domestic battery with a deadly weapon after hitting his victim with a stick.
Perry Adams was arrested after deputies responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Dori Way on report of domestic violence.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim who came outside and spoke very quietly with deputies, and acted as though she was afraid. Deputies asked if Adams was on scene, and the victim said no, but seemed to be nodding at the same time.
Deputies asked if they could go inside the house, and the victim said they could.
Deputies went inside and located with Adams.
The victim told deputies an argument had occurred with Adams because he’d been talking to someone else on Instagram. During the argument, Adams became angry and deleted the app off his phone. Deputies asked if the argument became physical, and the victim again said no but appeared to be nodding yes.
Deputies observed the victim had a mark on her arm that was a few inches long with redness on the outside, and the portion of skin was raised above the height of the surrounding skin.
Deputies asked how she received the mark, and she said it was from a stick that Adams has. She said she was in the bedroom, and Adams hit her face “a couple times” then choked her by pushing his forearm against her neck.
She said he then threatened to hit her with the stick that was in the closet, then hit her with a stick that was under the bed. She said he used both hands to hold the stick when he hit her, and raised it above his head when he struck her.
Deputies noted she had some redness on her lower neck but no redness to her face.
The victim said Adams’ child was in the house when the violence occurred, but was asleep.
When speaking with Adams’, he said they got into an argument because the victim accused him of “talking to a child on Instagram,” and that he deleted the app off his phone afterwards.
Deputies asked if the argument ever become physical and he said no. Deputies asked if they could look at the messages on his phone, and he said yes. However, when deputies attempted to log into instagram, Adams said he changed the password so he couldn’t log in anymore.
Deputies arrested Adams for domestic battery with a deadly weapon. They took photos of the victim’s injuries, the sticks, and Adams’ phone. The sticks were collected and booked into evidence and the phones seized.
Bail: $30,000
— A 22-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 1300 block of Como Street for domestic battery after allegedly punching her ex-girlfriend in the face.
Deputies responded to the residence Wednesday afternoon and spoke with the 22-year-old, and deputies noted she had a bit of redness over one of her eyes.
Deputies spoke with the victim who said she was sleeping in her room when her ex-girlfriend, whom she was in a dating relationship with, “busted” into her room and accused her of cheating with a man.
The victim said the ex-girlfriend punched the victim in the face, causing a small cut and the start of a black eye. She said the ex-girlfriend’s sister had been on speaker phone with the ex-girlfriend, and said something about how the ex-girlfriend needed to call the cops first.
The victim said she heard the ex-girlfriend make a loud noise in her room, and then noticed a bit of redness over her right eye.
When speaking with the ex-girlfriend again, deputies noted that the redness on her eye was gone. She said she confronted the victim about cheating on her, but confirmed they’d broken up approximately three months prior. She said the victim stood up and smacked her in the face, although she couldn’t remember which hand the victim used. She said she then punched the victim in the face with her right hand, and then called dispatch.
Deputies determined the ex-girlfriend to be the aggressor due to the victim’s injuries, and the fact that the ex-girlfriend had started the argument unprovoked, and that the redness on her face was on the wrong side if the victim had struck her with her dominate hand.
Additionally, the victim was the one who called 911; while a second call came from the house, dispatch said, it was “a bunch of yelling and then the phone hung up.”
Bail: $3,132
