The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a 43-year-old Carson City man who died in a fatal collision May 5 on US-50 near Rainbow Drive east of Dayton.

Timothy Marshall, 43, of Carson City, died at the scene after NHP responded at 9:45 p.m. to the incident on US-50 between Mark Twain Avenue and Rainbow Drive in Lyon County, according to NHP in a news release.

A preliminary investigation indicates a Mercury Mountaineer was traveling westbound on US-50 west of Rainbow Drive having crossed over into the number one eastbound travel lane, according to NHP.

A Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on US-50 in the number one eastbound travel lane. The front left of the Mercury struck the front left of the Chevrolet, the news release states.

After the collision, the Chevrolet overturned and stopped on its left side blocking the eastbound lanes of US-50. The Mercury continued back across the center turn lane and stopped on its wheels in the westbound travel lanes of US-50, according to the news release.

The driver of the Mercury, Timothy Marshall, was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel.

The driver of the Chevrolet, later, self-transported to a local area hospital. Impairment is not suspected as a factor in this crash, according to NHP.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating this crash.
