Though we’re technically on the tail end of spring, summer weather has arrived around Carson City and surrounding counties, with daytime highs Tuesday and Wednesday expected to be near 100 while some areas may go higher, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Heat Advisory for the Western Nevada Basin and Range.
Hydrate and if you’re outdoors, find shade especially if you are heat sensitive, as afternoon triple-digit heat is possible across much of western Nevada and northeast California, with near 90s for Lake Tahoe and lower Sierra communities, according to NWS forecasters.

Overnight lows will provide little heat relief as lows stay in the mid to upper 60s for western Nevada, forecasters said.
There’s a 10 to 15 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms today, Tuesday, along the Sierra crest. However, forecasters said the most likely scenario will be increased cumulus buildups along the higher terrain due to strong surface heating.
A pattern change Thursday and Friday increases fire weather concerns due to increased thunderstorm chances along with gusty winds and low humidity, according the NWS forecasters.
The good news is that a cooling period is expected by the weekend in time for the arrival of the first day of summer on Sunday. Stay tuned.
