DETR Releases March Jobs Report
CARSON CITY, NV – According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) March 2025 economic report, Nevada’s unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points (pp) and now sits at 5.7 percent and the labor force grew by 4,095. The total number of nonfarm jobs in Nevada was 1,574,200, an increase of 0.6 percent over the past year and an increase of 1,000 jobs since February 2025.
Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) Employment (Seasonally Adjusted):
Las Vegas employment increased by 600 jobs (0.1%) since February, an increase of 1,100 jobs (0.1%) since March 2024.
Reno employment had an increase of 800 jobs (0.3%) since February, an increase of 3,900 jobs (1.4%) since March 2024.
Carson City employment had an increase of 200 jobs (0.6%) since February, an increase of 600 jobs (1.9%) since March 2024.
“This month’s report shows a slight improvement from last month,” said David Schmidt, Chief Economist. “Nevada added 1,000 jobs over the month, and the annual growth in employment accelerated slightly to 0.6 percent. The unemployment ratealso fell from 5.8 to 5.7 percent. The state’s labor force participation rate is stable at 62.8 percent, a level slightly higher than the national average. While these improvements are not large, they continue topoint to an ongoing economic expansion in the state through the first three months of 2025.”
