Demonstrators gathered Saturday in front of the capitol complex in Carson City for the third “No Kings” rally, one of more than 3,000 such events happening nationwide.

There were no incidents and one ambulance call, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

“It was a well attended event. There were no law enforcement engagements and people were very orderly,” said Furlong.

The gathering in downtown Carson City comes as the U.S. and Israel are at war against Iran. A number of demonstrators held signs protesting against the action and the fear of more Americans returning home in coffins.

Other demonstrators said they are angry about inflation and tariffs, spiraling gas and food prices and as well as overall economic distress, the Epstein files, ICE and strict immigration policies, the shooting deaths of American demonstrators by federal agents and cuts to SNAP food programs for the poor.

There were some counter demonstrators who drove by the protest with at least one vehicle with pro-Trump flags. Trump supporters such as MAGA and America First are generally supportive of strict immigration enforcement such as mass deportations, economic protectionism and “anti-woke” cultural stances.

Demonstrator Dan Kaffer of Carson City said he attended the event because he is American and believes in democracy.

“I believe we have a government that should be run by the people for the people. I do not believe in tyranny, I do not believe in fascism. I do not believe dictators should decide when we go to war. I think they (Congress) are sweeping everything under the rug and turning a blind eye to the atrocities this Trump administration is performing. I think its time to stop it. I think it’s time he be impeached.”

Demonstrator Dema Herrera of Carson City said she attended for many reason, including the rights of women.

“It is important for us to get out and make it known that there are issues going on in this country that no longer abide by human rights. I’m here because women’s rights are being eroded every day in this country to the point where I feel we are losing our equality, especially choices for our bodies. I am a mother I’m a daughter, I have granddaughters. I am here to support them because going forward in the future they need to know that there are people standing up for them.”

Among the podium speakers was Kyle Allen, a Carson High School student who organized student-led anti-ICE rallies in Carson City. He told demonstrators, also addressing his fellow students and young adults, that “this is our fight and we have to be involved now. We have a community of millions across the nation. We must never forget the lives that have been taken and atrocities we have witnessed.”
