Grease is the word at Carson High School this spring!
Get ready to rock ‘n’ roll with Rydell High’s senior class! Grease picks up the story of head “greaser” Danny and girl-next-door Sandy where their summer lovin’ left off: the start of a new school year. Amongst greasers, Pink Ladies, fast cars, and teen angst, this musical evokes the looks and sounds of the 1950s. From its earliest performance in a Chicago nightclub, through its record-breaking Broadway run and hit feature film, Grease has remained one of the world’s most popular musicals.
This production features nearly 40 CHS students on and off stage, including in a live orchestra pit. It also features the talents of local performer Spike Maguire, with a cameo as Johnny Casino (singing the iconic Born to Hand Jive).
Director Darby Beckwith says, “I could not be more proud of these students and the incredible work they are doing. Grease is so beloved, and we have been having a total blast working with such iconic material. I know audiences are going to love this one.”
Filled with favorite songs and dance numbers such as “Greased Lightnin’,” “We Go Together,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “You’re the One That I Want,” this 1950s pop culture satire is filled to the brim with grit, glam, and youthful exuberance. Throw on a poodle skirt, dust off that leather jacket, and rediscover the show that’s been winning hearts for generations!
Grease is suitable for most theatergoers over the age of 12.
Shows are March 20 at 7pm, and March 21 at 2 and 7pm, with all shows taking place at the Carson City Community Center.
