A vehicle pursuit Saturday afternoon involving the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office made its way onto I-580 in Carson City briefly with speeds of at least 100 mph before it was terminated by law enforcement due to safety concerns.
At around 4:15 p.m. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office alerted that it was in pursuit of a vehicle failing to yield and that during chase, the suspect vehicle may have clipped a DCSO patrol vehicle near Topsy Lane. The vehicle then escaped a grappler, turned southbound US-395 before switching to northbound US-395 entering northbound I-580 in Carson City.
The suspect vehicle, a white van, was last seen going into Washoe County northbound I-580. NHP and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office were notified.
Douglas County deputies called off the pursuit due to speed and safety concerns as there are multiple motorcycles traveling on roadways and I-580 as part of the Street Vibrations Fall Rally. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office was not part of the pursuit but monitored the situation.
It is unknown at this time why the suspect vehicle would not pull over for the law enforcement traffic stop.
